The Museum was established in 1977 as the Virje Heritage Museum. It is housed in an old school building dating from the late nineteenth century. Since 2025, it has operated as the Museum of Podravina, with the region’s most important collection
of naive art, donated by Margareta Meissner Bašić and Luka Bašić from Vienna. The collection contains works by the greatest naive artists from Croatia and the broader region, including many landmark works by Ivan Generalić, Mirko Virius, Ivan Večenaj, Mijo Kovačić, Ilija Bosilj, Ivan Rabuzin, Matija Skurjeni, Emerik Feješ, Sava Sekulić, and others.
The Museum is open daily from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., while visits on Saturdays and Sundays are available by appointment.
